The capelet is done! I rather like it. I just need a vintage-y button and it'll be ready for pictures. That left lots of time this weekend for the Dale baby romper - I finished 1 leg, and am working on the other one. Then comes the fun part - joining all those stitches for a 250-stitch round. But it's cute, and using much less yarn that I thought it would, so I'll probably have some extra for something.

I bought a ball winder today! I got a gift certificate to KnitPicks so I got the ball winder and a skein of the color your own fingering merino. I'm going to use KoolAid to dye it red for the Red Scarf Project. So many projects, so little time...

And somewhere in here, I should do some work.

It's my birthday! I'm 26, or as my boss keeps reminding me, moving towards my late 20's. Which is fine - I think I'm the only person in the world looking forward to my 30th birthday. I feel older than 26 - I feel like I should be 30. And I'm tired of being mistaken for a college kid, and getting carded when I buy a drink. Apparently someday I'll appreciate it, but now it's just irritating. But oh well...

What are my exciting birthday plans, you ask? Driving up to Harrisburg. At night the drive isn't bad, and at least it isn't snowing or raining.

Now onto important things - knitting! Or in my case, crocheting...the capelet is almost done! I only did 2 rows last night, but I should finish it this weekend, just in time to photograph it and send the pictures off for Debbie Stoller's new crochet book. Cross your fingers for me! Then I can get back to the Dale baby romper (have you seen the new Dale patterns - too cute!!!!!) and the Gigi sweater. I think I MIGHT get the Adrienne V Fall 2004 book for my birthday, so I'll be working on the cover sweater as well. As Bonne Marie would say - WOOT! :-)

Happy Friday everyone!

It's snowing! Big fluffy flakes. But it's been about 60 degrees during the day for the past few days, so it's not likely to stick. I think it'll turn to rain soon, so probably no going home for us. Hopefully all will be well for our trip up north tomorrow - nothing like driving at night in yuck.

I have about 1 inch to go on the capelet, then I'll do a row on the bottom in the contrast color. I should have pictures, but I'm at work. I need to be on the lookout for a vintage-like button and then I'll be all done! Then I need to write out the pattern - I've been scribbling it down as I go, so now it's time to decipher it.

Happy snow, Richmonders!

I've been very lazy about blogging. I'm not sure how many people read this thing anyway though. Oh well.

After finishing the ChicKnits eyelet cardi, I was all set to move on to the Dale baby romper, and I did for about 20 rows. Then Debbie Stoller came and posted in the Richmond SnB board that she's looking for original crochet patterns. The challenge was on. So now I'm almost finished with a crochet capelet that was inspired by one I saw in Anthropololgie (and cost $80). Mine cost $20. I'm almost done - about 4 more inches. I need to get it done and photographed by March 7.

This weekend is my birthday (Friday actually). We're headed up to Harrisburg, PA to celebrate my birthday, my FIL's birthday, and Chris's all at once. Should be interesting, and I should get finish up the capelet.

After THAT, I finally get to move on to the Dale romper, for which I've had yarn for about a year now. 'Bout time! I also have yarn for the ChicKnits Gigi pattern. And, as you can see from my sidebar, lots of other projects in the queue. I just need to find more time to knit...how do all you other bloggers find time to knit all that cool stuff??????

The ChicKnits Eyelet Cardi is done! I finished it up last night. I didn't pick up the stitches on the front, first of all because I'm lazy and hate picking up stitches, and second because I think I might sew ribbon to them anyway. I soaked it last night, so it's drying out right now. I did it in a microspun cotton, which might have been a mistake, because that stuff tends not to wash up well (fuzzes everywhere), but oh well. Maybe next time in a wool.

On another note, I got a new cell phone! Check it out:

Now I'm starting to work on the ChicKnits Gigi and the Dale baby romper.
